Code of Practice
Introduction
This Code of Practice provides information on AITP's practices and procedures for the information of clients. It outlines the way in which AITP operates and the principles upon which AITP training and consultancy is provided.
Educational Standards
AITP is committed to providing high quality training courses that utilize:
- Up-to-date information based upon National Training Packages;
- Expert, knowledgeable and trained instructors;
- High quality training and assessment materials; and
- Appropriate equipment and venues where training is carried out.
AITP will monitor any feedback you provide to us and initiate remedial action to ensure that any problems are corrected as soon as is practicable.
Trainee Information
Before undertaking any training or assessment with AITP you should be provided with the following:
- A copy of this Code of Practice;
- Details of any course entry criteria and prerequisites;
- An outline of course objectives, competencies to be achieved, certificates to be obtained, and an explanation of the assessment procedures and recognition of prior learning arrangements;
- Information on how qualifications that have been issued by other training providers can be recognised;
- Information on opportunities to undertake remedial work in addition to the course work if required, and contact details for external agencies who may be able to provide specialist help if required; and
- An outline of the facilities available and relevant health, safety and emergency procedures.
It is usual for some of the above to be delivered 'verbally' - If you have not received all of the information listed above please contact your AITP trainer who will provide it to you (or arrange for you to have access to it).
Client Company Information
Before services are delivered by AITP, client companies will be provided with the following information:
- Full details of fees and charges associated with delivery of AITP services, and
- A copy of the AITP refund policy
Assessment
Assessment of your learning will occur in a number of different ways:
- You will assess your own progress individually or in a group with workmates following the various activities in the course.
- Your trainer/assessor will monitor your completion of any set activities, and check that you have completed the requirements.
- Some of the activities and exercises will form evidence for your final assessment.
Remember that you will have details on the specific performance criteria that you will be measured against, so you should be well prepared for assessment when it occurs.
The role of your assessor will be to make a judgement on your competency against these criteria, based on the evidence you have provided either through course work or other activities.
Grievance and Appeal Procedures
A participant or client company representative who wishes to appeal against any assessment, or to raise an issue of any grievance regarding the conduct of AITP, and/or any AITP trainer, may raise the matter with the Chief Executive Officer who may obtain assistance from any other person (as appropriate). The Chief Executive Officer may reject the appeal, require a reassessment, support the appeal or deal with the matter in any way. If required this outcome may be given in writing. The Chief Executive Officer's decision is final.
Your Responsibilities
As a participant in an AITP training program you will be encouraged and expected to participate fully in the training and assessment process. You will have group and individual activities or projects which need to be completed and you will be expected to ask questions if you do not understand some aspect of the content being covered. However disruptive behaviour, particularly any behaviour which may pose an occupational health and safety risk will not be tolerated and if this occurs you will be removed from the group and the client company informed. Before you will be accepted back into a training program a meeting must take place to discuss the unacceptable behaviour and set strict ground rules for future behaviour.
Guarantee
AITP does not guarantee that any participant or client will achieve a successful outcome. However, AITP will make reasonable efforts to allow all participants to achieve the outcomes advertised. Flexibility of delivery times is offered, such as evenings, weekends and part-time learning opportunities.
