| This qualification can be achieved by attending a training course, through the Skills Recognition (RPL) process OR a combination. Attending a training course: Delivery is conducted as 2 Modules of 4 day blocks (usually 1 Month apart). Candidates will then apply their skills learned from this course by completing projects in their workplace. (Minimum numbers apply) Skills Recognition (RPL) process: Candidates who already have the knowledge, skills and experience as a Diploma level OHS Practitioner (Occupational Health and Safety Practitioners, Safety and Health Officers, Human Resource Managers, Audit / Risk Managers), are encouraged to apply to AITP to have your current and recent experience recognised through this process. This nationally recognized qualification specifies the competencies required to participate in the coordination and maintenance of a systematic approach to managing OHS; participate in the management of OHS information and data systems and the investigation of incidents/accidents.
It also covers managing by applying the principles of OHS risk management; monitoring and facilitating the management of hazards associated with plant; and managing hazards in the work environment. Also included are: assisting in the design and development of OHS participative arrangements and facilitating the application of principles of occupational health to control OHS risk. Candidates generally undertake this qualification because they have a specific interest in this field. They are usually already performing some occupational health and safety functions in their workplace and/or they are responsible for occupational health and safety in the workplace at a managerial level. |
