Diploma of Occupational Health & Safety

This nationally recognized qualification specifies the competencies required to participate in the coordination and maintenance of a systematic approach to managing OHS; participate in the management of OHS information and data systems and the investigation of incidents/accidents.

It is suitable for:

• Occupational Health and Safety Practitioners Safety and Health Officers
• Those working in these positions wishing to gain a formal qualification
• Human Resource Managers Audit / Risk Managers
• Those wishing to gain employment in the field of Occupational Health and Safety

It also covers managing by applying the principles of OHS risk management; monitoring and facilitating the management of hazards associated with plant; and managing hazards in the work environment.  Also included are: assisting in the design and development of OHS participative arrangements and facilitating the application of principles of occupational health to control OHS risk.

Candidates generally undertake this qualification because they have a specific interest in this field.  They are usually already performing some occupational health and safety functions in their workplace and/or they are responsible for occupational health and safety in the workplace at a managerial level.
