Dogging (DG)

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to safely sling loads and guide cranes in a safe and effective manner; it is based upon the requirements of the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work which are the requirements for National Certification through WorkSafe Western Australia.  Successful completion of all requirements leads to the issue of a Statement of Attainment for TLIE1507C and TLID4007C.

Course Objectives

The Dogging course provides candidates with the appropriate skills and knowledge to:

  • Calculate the mass of a load
  • Calculate the slinging equipment required for the safe movement of the load
  • Move loads when they are not in sight of the operator of the lifting equipment
  • Identify and tie knots, using rope, appropriate to specified applications

 

Identify the characteristic of lifting components such as:

  • Ropes
  • Steel Wire Ropes
  • Chain
  • Synthetic slings
  • Common Lifting devices
